Greenburgh Graham Nursing Program
Greenburgh Graham Nursing Program
Greenburgh Graham UFSD now offers a 2-year Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP) for students interested in going into the Medical or Nursing field after High School. The 2-year Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP) is offered to mature sophomores and juniors. Our program focuses on core subjects such as Math, Science, and hands-on clinical training in a Nursing Care Facility. The NATP program is facilitated by a special education teacher and the instructor to ensure all IEP mandates are met and accommodations and modifications are provided. Upon completion of the NATP, students will receive an NYS certificate of completion and take an NYS exam for certification to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
In hands-on clinical training in a Nursing Care Facility, the students will focus on:
Helping patients eat meals
· Cleaning and bathing patients
· Assisting patients in using the toilet and dressing
· Measuring vital signs, such as temperature and blood pressure
· Repositioning patients and transferring them between beds and wheelchairs
· Listening to and recording health concerns of patients, then reporting that information to nurses
Nursing assistants play a significant role in healthcare facilities. After certification, CNAs provide basic care and assist Registered Nurses. CNAs often develop relationships with their patients, especially in nursing homes and residential care facilities. Our NATP gives students a head start in their Healthcare careers and a bright future.
